The Captain’s Fried Scallop Recipe

Are you a scallop lover? There are many great ways to prepare scallops but fried scallops are a favorite of many. This recipe is easy, delicious, and restaurant quality. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 Pound Jumbo Sea Scallops
  • Fryer or 4 Cups of Vegetable or Canola Oil
  • 2 Cups Buttermilk
  • 2 Cups All Purpose Flour 
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Kosher Salt
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Paprika

Directions:

  1. Dry the scallops with a paper towel.
  2. Allow scallops to soak in buttermilk for 2-5 hours
  3. Heat the fryer or oil to 400 degrees
  4. Combine the flour, salt, pepper, and paprika well in a mixing bowl
  5. Roll scallops in the flour mixture until well (thickly) coated
  6. Cook the scallops in the 400 degree oil for 3 minutes and 30 seconds
  7. Drain excess oil then serve!
