Positive Impact Worldwide, a St. Petersburg-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides FREE groceries to children and their families, today announced their Thanksgiving Food Drive to ensure that children and their families have groceries over Thanksgiving break, as well as a turkey and all the sides to enjoy together Thanksgiving Day.
According to the Pinellas Community Foundation, as many as 36,000 children in Pinellas County are food insecure, meaning a household’s economic and social condition provides limited or uncertain access to adequate food. Out of this number, 7000 children are chronically hungry, meaning they have little or no access to food when they are not in school on weekends, holidays, or vacations.
“We are excited to announce that we are providing groceries to children and their families in our community while they are on Thanksgiving break, as well as working alongside The Joy FM to collect and provide turkeys and all of the sides for a Thanksgiving Dinner,” said Karen Rae, Executive Director of Positive Impact. “We believe that children deserve to not only have access to fresh whole foods daily, but a Thanksgiving turkey and all the fixin’s to enjoy with their family on Thanksgiving Day.”
Thanksgiving Dinner meal boxes and fresh groceries will be distributed to families at no cost on Thursday, November 21st, from 3 PM to 6 PM at 2750 34th Street South in St. Petersburg. This distribution event will ensure that no child goes to bed hungry while on Thanksgiving break, and they will have a Thanksgiving Dinner to enjoy with their families.
Positive Impact Worldwide invites the community to join in this crucial effort to ensure that children have access to nutritious food when they are not in school and that no child goes to bed hungry in our city. Local businesses, volunteers, and concerned citizens are encouraged to contribute their time, resources, and expertise to support the initiative and help positively impact the lives of those affected by food insecurity.
On Tuesday, November 7th, from 7 AM to 10 AM, along with the JOY FM at 2750 34th Street South in St. Petersburg, you can bring a frozen turkey, $10 cash, or a $10 gift card from any local grocery store and receive a newly designed JOY FM T-shirt! Your donation will go directly to Positive Impact Worldwide and families in St. Petersburg.
