Guru Review – Lighthouse Pizza and Subs

The hardest reviews that I have to write are about pizza and sub shops. Being a New Jersey native, I grew up eating the best pizza and subs in the world in my hometown of Atlantic City. All of that changed when I went to a brand new shop Lighthouse Pizza and Subs. Lighthouse Pizza and subs is located at 5729 Richey Dr, Port Richey, FL. 

The moment you walk into this place it feels authentic to the Jersey Shore. The mural of Atlantic City points out some of the greatest sub shops that ever existed including the world famous White House Sub Shop, Sacco’s Subs, Delaware Subs, Dino’s and more. The owner Jay is an Atlantic City native and is well versed in the recipes that made Atlantic City subs and pizza world famous. 

I ordered a cheesesteak and when I took the first bite, I thought I was back in New Jersey. It was again, authentic! Even the roll, which is hard to get or duplicate anywhere outside of Absecon island, was excellent. The combination of meat, cheese, oil, and fried onions were exactly what I grew up on.

In addition to my fabulous cheesesteak, Lighthouse Pizza and subs has a full menu of Atlantic City subs both hot and cold. Hot subs include meatball, sausage, chicken cheese steaks and one of my favorites, chicken parmesan. They even have a roast pork, provolone, broccoli rabe sub (that is a Philadelphia thing but I won’t tell). 

Cold subs include the world famous Atlantic City Italian sub, a variety of Italian variations, ham, turkey, roast beef, and more. Don’t forget to pair your sandwich with cheese fries or there other side items.

They also have a full pizza menu with a Jersey shore recipe. If you haven’t had Jersey shore pizza, this is your chance to experience it as close to first hand as possible.

Lighthouse Pizza and Subs has changed the landscape of pizza and subs in West Pasco County. Try them once and I am sure you will become a regular! Check out their website at https://www.lighthousesubs.com.
