The End of The Line Tour
The Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre presents GRAMMY® Award-Winner Janis Ian, The End of The Line Tour, on Thursday, March 31 at 8 pm. Now in her fifth decade of writing songs and performing, Janis Ian received her most recent GRAMMY® nomination in 2016 for the self-produced Patience & Sarah, an audio book she produced and co-narrated with actress Jean Smart (Designing Women). This makes a total of 10 nominations in 8 different categories, a record for a solo artist whose first nomination came at the age of 16 for her debut album, Janis Ian.
One of the great American songwriters of our day and a towering talent, Janis Ian penned such classics as Jesse, Stars, At Seventeen (which earned her a GRAMMY® Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance) and so many more. Her songs have been recorded by countless diverse artists. Ian’s art is not for the faint of heart. Her first hit (Society’s Child, at age 14) ignited a storm among radio broadcasters and listeners for its unflinching look at the relationship between a black boy and a white girl. Her art is still fresh, powerful and passionate. In 2013 she won a GRAMMY®, for her spoken word album, Society’s Child.
