Historic Kenwood Art studios on display

At Historic Kenwood, you will experience a variety of work ranging from emerging artists to internationally recognized professionals.  The self-guided tour will include work by ceramicists, sculptors, jewelers, photographers, mixed multi-media artists, fine art painters and performance artists. This year’s theme, “Artists at Work,” allows collectors and visitors to engage with artists, and enjoy live demos throughout the two-day tour.  Learn about the creative process and what steps an artist takes to bring their ideas from concept to completion.

Historic Kenwood Celebrates the Arts

An added feature of this year’s tour, Premier B&B Kenwood Gables will host an exhibition of artwork of the Enclave during the tour with brochure pick-up and information available. Treat yourself to a new piece for your collection or pick up gifts for friends and family!  Covid protocols will be observed to assure your best experience.

Lisa Presnail at the enclave

One of the artists that will be on display this weekend is Lisa Presnail. She has been making photographic portraits since 2005. Lisa’s first love is studio
photography, where she designs dramatic portraits using a combination of artificial and natural light. She is serving as the artist Liaison on behalf of the Artist Enclave. Lisa is working on several new themes, exploring light and texture. An ever-present expression in her work is her commitment to the celebration of our animal friends,
especially dogs. (Artwork sample left).

What is the Artist Enclave and why is it so unique?

Historic Kenwood

In 2014, the St. Petersburg City Council unanimously approved an Artist Enclave Overlay District in the Historic Kenwood Neighborhood. The special distinction allows a limited amount of commercial activity to take place.  Artists can create artwork, teach students and sell their creations from their own homes.  These special accommodations encourage a thriving arts community. Only two of these special artists’ overlays exist in St. Petersburg.
