NTT Indy Car Race Series February 25-27
It’s time again for Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg! Follow the roar of the engines to downtown St. Pete to check out the action after the streets have been transformed into one of racing’s most beautiful road courses for the 18th annual Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg Indy Car Series event. The event starts on Friday, February 25, and continues Saturday and Sunday, February 26 and 27, with several classes of cars competing, including NTT Indy Cars, the premier open-wheel racing series in North America.
The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg series offers one of the most diverse and challenging schedules in motorsports with races held on ovals, permanent road courses and temporary street courses. Action begins at 8 a.m. each morning and continues until 5:30, with the NTT Indy Car Series Finals set for Sunday afternoon starting at 2:55 and 3:30 p.m. Grandstand and General Admission tickets are available online at gpstpete.com or by calling 1-888-476-4479. The annual Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is a race event usually held during Florida’s spring break season each March. As the IndyCar Series’ season-opening race for the ninth consecutive year, St. Pete is a destination city hosting this annual motorsport tradition and offering a festival atmosphere with its downtown location.
The temporary circuit is a 1.8-mile, 14-turn configuration using the streets circling Pioneer Park, the Duke Energy Center for the Arts, The Dali Museum and extending onto the runways at Albert Whitted Airport, which overlooks the waterfront of Tampa Bay and picturesque St. Petersburg Harbor and Marina.
The Road to Indy Presented By Cooper Tires features some of the best young competitors as they try to reach the pinnacle of open-wheel racing America, the NTT IndyCar Series. Boasting over 100 drivers as graduates, the Road to Indy is comprised of three race series, including Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires, Indy Pro 2000 Championship presented by Cooper Tires and the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship.
The now eight-round championship will kick-off the new season at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in Florida on February 25th – 27th, 2022. The streets of St. Petersburg are no stranger to SRO America competition, with Pirelli GT4 America and TC America powered by Skip Barber racing on the temporary circuit last in 2019.

This season, SRO Motorsports America reignited its sprint racing heritage by creating the GT America powered by AWS championship. A true celebration of sports car racing with its single driver, 40-minute double-headers that featured non-stop action with GT3, GT2, and GT4 machinery.
For 2022, the second edition looks to capitalize on the momentum GT America has shown in its debut season. The originally announced schedule featured many of America’s top circuits like Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Road America, and Sebring. Plus, the newly introduced Music City Grand Prix in the heart of Nashville added the extra flair to bring GT racing back to IndyCar race weekends.
