Golf to Give Back on 9/11-This year marks the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Valor invites you to join our golf fundraiser to raise funds for our veteran community. On Saturday, September 11, 2021, the Raymond James Veterans Inclusion Network (Valor) is hosting their annual Valor Golf fundraiser in support of local Veterans and their families.
This year’s tournament will take place at the MacDill Air Force Base Bay Palms Golf Course in Tampa FL. The Raymond James Valor Network is a representation of all service branches, military spouses, and allies, fostering camaraderie, networking, and community involvement by providing support to the veteran community nationwide through national and local outreach programs.
In the last 3 years, the Valor network has raised and donated $150K+ to local Veteran organizations in our community. This year marks both the 20th anniversary of 9/11, Valor invites you to join our Annual golf fundraiser aimed at assisting veteran’s organizations in their commitment and mission to help our veteran community. Each year, we hope to give back to veterans and their families who have already given so much.
Proceeds of this year’s tourney will benefit 6 charities that are focused on mental health/resilience for veterans and their families: Tampa Warriors, Wounded Warriors Abilities Ranch, Veterans Village USA, The Heroes Journey, Dive Care Inc, and Exalted Warrior Foundation. “It is our job to raise funds, awareness of need, and mobilize volunteers to support our Veteran community. Raymond James is proud to partner with other community-focused organizations. The work we do is made possible because of their support.
We are proud to have our sponsors stand with us, even in such dire times, and having them acknowledge the efforts of these local Veteran non-profits who remind us to never forget.” Andy Zolper (USMC), Executive Sponsor of Raymond James Valor. Our sponsors include: RSM (our title sponsor), Raymond James Bank, BDO, Sidley, Bates Group, Alex. Brown, Iron EagleX Inc., Power-Pole, Ernst & Young, Grant Thornton, USAA, Fred Hosken, and Horse Soldier Bourbon. This year, we are proud to have as our main event speaker, the Horse Soldiers (the movie “12 Strong” starring Chris Hemsworth was based on their true story).
These local heroes are the makers of Horse Soldiers Bourbon / American Freedom Distillery and the founders of the Urban Stillhouse restaurant in St Pete. Immediately following the 9/11 attacks, the US responded with a daring insertion of small teams of Green Berets into northern Afghanistan, who mounted wild Afghan and bravely took on the enemy. Nicknamed the “Horse Soldiers”, all these brave men are honored today by America’s Response Monument overlooking “Ground Zero” in New York City.
Their award-winning Horse Soldier Bourbon is sold in bottles pressed in molds made from steel salvaged from the World Trade Center site. As part of our 9/11 observance, we also invite all our guests, sponsors, and golfers to attend a virtual event on Friday 9/10/2021 with a keynote address from Kyle Carpenter (youngest Medal of Honor Recipient). If you are interested in sponsorship or donating to one of our Veterans community outreach partners, or to get involved with giving back, email ValorNetwork@RaymondJames.com.
