The Women of Summer

 Art, Glass and Jewelry Show

The Women of Summer Art, Glass and Jewelry Show will be a group show that brings together a special group of Women artists from all over the country. Each one has their own distinctive palette of colors and subject matter which they are known for. They have found their niche working in a variety of different mediums. They create works of art on canvas and on metal, they form in clay and glass, they create with silver, gold and a mixture of stones and resin. The Opening reception for the Woman of Summer Art, Glass and Jewelry opening reception will be on July 17^th from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.  The show will continue at Syd Entel Galleries in Safety Harbor Florida through August 28^th.

According to the National Museum of Women in the Arts, 51 per cent of visual artists today are women. But when it comes to exhibitions and gallery representation, the numbers tell a less optimistic story. In London, for example, 78 per cent of the galleries represent more men than women, while only 5 per cent represent an equal number of male and female artists. This is just another reason we want to help promote woman in art! And these are some very talented women!

Included in the Woman of Summer Art, Glass and Jewelry Show are:

More About Lisa England Schuster:

Born in 1962 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Lisa England Schuster has become of the leading floral abstract artists in the country. Lisa is mostly a self-taught artist who mastered her craft while pioneering her family’s art-publishing business, a venture based upon research for her MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati. Her graduation project, designing a business model incorporating all the curriculums, inspired her art-publishing business. Though she had never painted a picture in her life by age 28, after working with the artist she had employed for years, she realized that painting was her calling. She soon quit her ‘desk job’ at the company and eventually became their primary artist, subsequently creating hundreds of published works. She opened her own gallery/working studio in 2006 with the intention of selling the wide collection of originals she had amassed (the company had only sold prints and reproductions) and to develop her own art. It was then and there that her signature style of bright, loose, and wild, large format, abstract and floral oil paintings on copper and aluminum emerged. Lisa studied in Florence, Italy, at The Angel Art Academy, the Toledo Art Museum and at the Cincinnati Art Academy. 

Throughout her career Lisa has always believed art has intrinsic healing powers. She believes deeply in using art for the betterment of healthcare and in children’s lives. She actively and continuously supports important organizations dedicated to improving lives of those less fortunate: Kindervelt (Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center) where she served as Chapter President for the past two years, JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), The Northern Kentucky Advocacy Center and The Nurturing Center of Northern Kentucky.

Lisa is a repeat winner at Art Designers Consultant’s annual Art Comes Alive international competition, winning multiple awards for Floral Artist of the Year. She has been featured in national and local publications including the Winter 2015/16 edition of Art Business News, the Fall 2016 edition of Polly Magazine and multiple articles in Venue Magazine, Cincinnati. Lisa’s work is found in numerous private, public, and corporate collections across the United States and abroad.  She currently lives and paints in Daytona Beach, Florida, and Cincinnati.

As a multifaceted artist, with a focus on painting, illustration, interior, and textile design for more than two decades, Juul has cultivated an extensive list of devoted supporters. Her work displays prominently in a wide variety of settings—from celebrity homes and corporate lobbies to commercial and hospitality sites internationally.  

A native of New York, but long-time resident in Florida, she has exhibited internationally from San Diego to Boston and London to Beijing. Some notable exhibitions are Iraq Museum, Art Basel, Swiss Art Expo, Affordable Art Fair Manhattan, Foosaner Art Museum, and a collaboration with Yoko Ono.

Her work is represented worldwide through renowned galleries and print vendors.

More on Randi Solin:

Randi Solin became inspired to pursue a career in fine art glass in 1984, when she happened across a glassblower at work in a school studio and became spellbound by the glassblowing process.  She established her first glassblowing studio in Mt. Shasta, CA in 1995, and three years later Solinglass was relocated to its current studio in Brattleboro, VT. (Randi Solin Glass Art Window Series).

Randi Solin has been committed to the art of blown glass for over 20 years, dazzling collectors and colleagues alike with her exceptional technical skill and highly inventive coloration style.  The recipient of many Bests in Show and Best in Glass awards, her work has been exhibited in museums and solo gallery shows nationwide. Solin incorporates techniques found in both classes Venetian glassblowing and the American Art Glass movement. 

However, atypical to the art of blown glass, she takes a two-dimensional approach to her work:  assigning her pieces a ‘front’ and using a composition of color that is often opaque, working much like a painter to a canvas.  Solin’s coloration process is complex and varied, using layer upon layer of glass in all particle sizes, and often incorporating sheets of sterling silver, fine strands of steel wool, or a hand ‘drawing’ in black glass cane. The optics of Solin’s glass artwork – the cut and polished top – is an integral part of her process, her signature of sorts, and an important component of her work. (The handblown glass pieces in the Window series as in the featured image ABOVE are markedly different from most of Randi Solin’s work in that they’re less about surface and more about depth. There’s lightness and breath in the coloration, with a “front” and “back” assigned to each sculptural piece.)
