This Weekend in Central Clearwater Beach
Five talented artists are scheduled to arrive in front of some of the best eateries in Central Clearwater Beach on Thursday, Oct. 29, to begin working on their spectacular chalk art. They plan to complete their creations by noon on Saturday. Oct. 31. In case you didn’t realize the dates, it will be a special Halloween edition of Chalktober Fest!
The artists will be participating in Week 5 of Chalktober Fest, the month-long celebration of creativity and fun sponsored by the new AMPLIFY Clearwater Chamber of Commerce, serving businesses in Clearwater and Clearwater Beach. The event is presented by Morton Plant Hospital/BayCare Health Systems. Visitors will be able to vote for their favorite “Tricks” (pieces of art) and have an opportunity to stop in for some delicious “Treats” at adjacent hotspots.
Matt McAllister will be doing his chalk art at Crabby’s Dockside, at 37 Causeway Blvd. Just down the way you’ll be able to see Damon Meri working at Sunsets at Pier 60, located at 1 Causeway Blvd., while artist Naomi Haverland will also be at 1 Causeway Blvd, sponsored by Visit St. Pete/ Clearwater. Holland King is scheduled to set up his chalks at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa, at 301 S. Gulfview Blvd on the Beachwalk., and Erik Greenawalt will be creating a piece along the Beachwalk at 100 Coronado Drive, adjacent to the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach.
This is the final week of a five-weekend-long event scheduled at different locations throughout Clearwater Beach and Downtown Clearwater. Throughout the event, local and visiting artists have been invited to chalk masterpieces in front of a variety of your favorite hot spots in various areas of Downtown Clearwater and Clearwater Beach to attract customers to all participating businesses in a friendly, social distancing way. The participating businesses will be open to offer food and refreshments for those who wish to join in the celebration.
Each weekend during the rest of the month of October, different portions of the AMPLIFY Clearwater community sponsored local and visiting artists, who began their work on Thursday of the week in front of participating businesses with a schedule of complete their work by noon on Saturday.
One of the goals of Chalktober Fest is to offer residents and visitors an opportunity to see the artists at work and to enjoy viewing their art in a leisurely social distancing fashion, while also seeing the reopened businesses that are following all of the post-Pandemic rules while continuing to offer some of the finest quality food and drinks and services that are why Downtown Clearwater and Clearwater Beach are great places to visit.
AMPLIFY Clearwater is the newly combined chambers of commerce from Clearwater and Clearwater Beach.
