A Special Concert by Carl Fischer’s Sunshine City Brass

Ruth Eckerd Hall and Clearwater Jazz Holiday are joining forces to present a special concert by Carl Fischer’s Sunshine City Brass with special guest vocalist Ronnie Dee and a show-opening performance by Tampa Bay native Kyle Schroeder. The concert will take place on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 8 p.m. in the Kate Tiedemann and Ellen Cotton Cabaret Theatre in Ruth Eckerd Hall. Join Carl Fischer and the Sunshine City Brass as they take you on a jazz journey where the north meets south.  With second line grooves and familiar tunes that conjure vibes of the Crescent City and paired with the energy of the Big Apple.  The Sunshine City Brass will feature fresh takes on New Orleans jazz, Billy Joel classics and much more to enjoy in Destination Tampa Bay™!

A table reservation is required.  The table price of $100 includes admission for the purchaser and up to three guests, a charcuterie tray and tableside service. Carl Fischer is a member of the Billy Joel Band (LEFT) and one of today’s most visible trumpet players, keeping a consistent worldwide touring schedule. Billy Joel praised Fischer’s ability during a Sirius XM radio interview, saying, “The crowd goes nuts…. He’s just such a good musician.  He just blows people away.” (Billy Joel/Sirius XM Radio interview).  

Jazz Musician Carl Fischer performs on some of the world’s biggest stages as a featured soloist/multi-instrumentalist (Trumpet, Flugelhorn, Trombone and Saxophone), including record-breaking sold-out stadium and arena tours with pop music icon Billy Joel.

Fischer (LEFT) performs on some of the world’s biggest stages as a featured soloist/multi-instrumentalist (Trumpet, Flugelhorn, Trombone and Saxophone), including record-breaking sold-out stadium and arena tours with pop music icon Billy Joel. Fischer has been a member of the Billy Joel band since late 2005.He has shared the stage or recorded with a virtual who’s who of the music industry.  From Wynton Marsalis to Axel Rose and has performed for President Obama, the Kings of Thailand and Bahrain and also the Prince of Morocco.

Mindi Abair played at Ruth Eckerd Hall

Saxophonist Kyle Schroeder returns to Ruth Eckerd Hall for the first time since opening for Mindi Abair (RIGHT) in August. Kyle hails from the Tampa Bay area and is a former student at the Hoffman School of the Arts.  Currently a Senior at University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, Kyle has also had the opportunity to play large festivals including the Clearwater Jazz Holiday three times.  Kyle is currently recording his debut album featuring Ben Tankard and other guest artists.
