Chalktober Fest Brings Beautiful Sidewalk Art

To Cleveland Street in Clearwater This Weekend

If you enjoy watching artists at work and having an opportunity to vote for them to win valuable prizes, head out to Cleveland Street in Clearwater this weekend to enjoy the first weekend of Chalktober Fest. The event is presented by Morton Plant Hospital/BayCare Health Systems and organized by the new AMPLIFY Clearwater Chamber of Commerce, combining businesses in Clearwater and Clearwater Beach.

Chalktober Fest on Cleveland Street

Throughout the event, local and visiting artists have been invited to chalk masterpieces in front of a variety of local establishments in various areas of Downtown Clearwater and Clearwater Beach to attract customers to all participating businesses in a friendly, social distancing way.

Three talented artists began working on Thursday and plan to complete their creations by noon on Saturday. Oct. 3. Artist Desiree D’Alessandro is completing her chalk art design in front of AMPLIFY Clearwater’s office at 600 Cleveland Street, while artist Nick Tangredi can be found working on her design at the corner of Cleveland Street and North East Ave. in front of CRA. Visit St. Pete/Clearwater’s location at 516 Cleveland Street is the site for the artistic design of artist Naomi Haverland.

Chalktober Fest on Clevl=eland Ave. By Amplify Clearwater

This year’s Chalktober Fest is being held every weekend in October beginning October 1 and ending on November 1. The five-weekend-long artistic celebration offers those of all ages an opportunity to experience high quality chalk art at all your favorite hot spots along Clearwater Beach and Downtown. Many of the participating businesses will be open to offer food and refreshments for those who wish to join in the celebration.

Each weekend during the rest of the month of October, different portions of the AMPLIFY Clearwater community will host artists, who will begin their work on Thursday of the week in front of participating businesses. The weekend of October 8-10 will find the artists at work in South Clearwater Beach. On the weekend of October 15-17, it will be back to downtown clearwater, Then from October 22-24 the Chalktober Fest brigade will march to Stone Crab weekend on North Clearwater Beach, with the final showing on the Halloween weekend of October 29-31 in Central Clearwater Beach.

During the Clearwater Chalktober Fest, each participating business will be partnered with a local or visiting artist who will chalk a masterpiece in front of its establishment. Artists will begin their work on Thursday with the goal of completing their work by noon on Saturday for weekend enjoyment! The schedule for the various chalk artists to work will take them to a different neighborhood each week.

One of the goals of Chalktober Fest is to offer residents and visitors an opportunity to see the artists at work and to enjoy viewing their art in a leisurely fashion, while also seeing the reopened businesses that are following all of the post-Pandemic rules while continuing to offer some of the finest quality food and drinks that have earned them such outstanding reputations.

AMPLIFY Clearwater is the newly combined chambers of commerce from Clearwater and Clearwater Beach. Their stated mission is to promote and meet the needs of businesses, tourism and industry and to provide leadership for the advancement of economic vitality and equality for the North Pinellas Region.
