The SteelDrivers

After signing with Rounder Records, The SteelDrivers released their eponymous debut album in 2008, scoring a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for one of the songs in that set, Blue Side of the Mountain. That honor was replicated in 2010 when they received two more nominations for Reckless—one for Best Bluegrass Album and another for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

The SteelDrivers’s third album, 2012‘s Hammer Down, climbed all the way to #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass charts. If there was any proof needed that their momentum had been maintained, The SteelDrivers‘ highly acclaimed fourth album, The Muscle Shoals Recording, garnered the group a long-elusive GRAMMY® win for Best Bluegrass Album. In addition, it earned an IBMA nomination for Song of the Year(Long Way Down). With their latest #1 debut release Bad For You, the group is hailed as one of the top selling contemporary bluegrass acts. Their current track I choose You is closing in on the top 20 on the Americana radio chart.

The Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre presents GRAMMY® Award winners The SteelDrivers on Thursday, January 14 at 8 pm. (Tickets purchased for the concert originally scheduled for Friday, August 28 at 8 p.m. will be honored on the new date.  Tickets are on sale now. The Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre, located in downtown Clearwater’s Cleveland Street District, was constructed in 1921 and is one of Florida’s oldest operating theaters. In 2019, industry trade publication Pollstar named the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre the #1 club venue in Tampa, #1 in Florida, #3 in the United States and #3 in the world of club venues with 800 seats or less.

In 2013, the theater underwent a complete $10 million renovation and is the catalyst for downtown development. In 2019, Nancy and David Bilheimer donated $2.5 million to Ruth Eckerd hall as part of the theatre’s ongoing “Expanding the Experience” Capital campaign.  In recognition of the generous donation, the Capitol Theatre’s name was changed to the Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre.
